Bi-County Mailing Marks
40 Years in Direct Mail

This year, Bi-County Mailing celebrates its 40th year in the direct mail marketing industry, servicing businesses and organizations that use the U.S. Postal Service to reach their audiences. This is an exciting milestone for us. We see the keys to our success as our commitment to making each client’s needs a top priority and putting reliability and integrity above everything else.

Four Decades of Growth & Progress
Thanks to Our Family of Loyal Clients

  • 1968 – Bi-County Mailing opens in the back of a print shop and expands slowly to a store front nearby; all work is done by hand.
  • 1992 - The company is bought by the present owners and new growth begins.
  • 1994 – Expansion is significant enough for us to move into a 6,000 sq.-ft. facility and install automated lettershop equipment.
  • 2001 – More growth and development necessitate another move into a modern 15,000 sq.-ft. plant that houses the latest mail house technology and a staff of 50.
  • 2007 – Bi-County Mailing is named Long Island’s best direct mail house by Long Island Business News readers.
  • 2008 – We are one of Long Island’s better-known direct mail service companies with more than 700 clients and a reputation for providing highly consistent, quality service no matter how large or small the project.

Bi-County Mailing’s range of sophisticated, computerized lettershop services includes targeted mailing lists; list maintenance; sophisticated computer data processing; laser personalized letters; bar coding; direct addressing; automated inserting, sorting, collating and assembling; and fulfillment.

Our mission remains as always “to make our clients’ use of direct mail correct, effective and as hassle-free as possible. In every way, we strive to operate as an extension of your company or organization with your needs and goals our paramount responsibility.”

In recognition of this landmark year, and to thank our family of loyal clients, Bi-County will offer a special 40th Anniversary Discount. (* Offer limited to one per client; cannot be combined with any other offer.)

Writing Great Headlines Only Looks Easy

If you want to get your direct mail read, your headline must grab the readers’ attention and pull them into the copy immediately. If the headline doesn’t create interest or at least some curiosity, you might just as well forget about writing the copy because most people won’t read it.

Here are some things to consider when writing headlines for direct mail pieces:

  • Do your homework. Understand the essence of what you’re trying to sell, and put it in your headline.
  • Shout out your product’s primary benefit.
  • Play with the words; try out different versions before choosing the one that pops.
  • Deliver a total message: Showy headlines such as “Hot Stuff Just In!” mean nothing. But, “Save $5.99 with Each Purchase,” says it all.
  • Be specific. “Save Time & Money” doesn’t say enough. “Save 2 Hours and $10 with Our New Floor Cleaner,” is very specific.

The Power of One-to-One Direct Mail

As direct mail marketing grows increasingly personalized, it becomes more cost-effective for direct mail marketers.

Customization, — aka one-to-one marketing — which goes well beyond “Dear Mr. Smith,” is moving toward becoming super personalized, and has become a powerful communications tool.

For example, instead of producing 10,000 copies of a single document, the latest computerized lettershop technology allows your mailhouse to produce 10,000 unique documents with customized messages for each customer.

Each piece looks as if was printed especially for the reader because it was. For example, you can produce letters with the same basic layout but with different names, addresses, salutations and data in the body of the letter relevant to each recipient.

Benefits of one-to-one marketing include: faster response time and better response rates, as well as improved customer retention and return on investment.
